Tour of my sewing room

I got inspired to show you my sewing room after Zura blogged about hers i have been meaning to blog about my sewing room you might remember my sneak peek here, here and here.

This post is picture heavy but hopefully it wont bore you …..let us begin  :)

Welcome to my sewing room

this is what you see as you open the door

Check out this carpet  i LOVE the heart and its was made for me – bought it from Ikea

Turn to your left and you see my cutting table

Lets us take a closer look of the cutting table shall we?

The table is actually not a table at all but  2 Ikea Lack bookcases placed on their sides!

above this i have 2 Ikea Lack shelves

and right next to this is where i keep my fabrics, the bookcase with the glass shelves stores my non craft books

and the plastic drawers i keep my work in progress projects

Then there is a big window in the middle of the room

the same one you were faced with upon entering and to the right of that is the Expedit Bookcase which is i LOVE

and on the other side of this is my office :)

I stenciled “Connect to the world” above my workstation

Back to my workstation for a closer look

next to this another big window and my sewing machine

The L shape Galant ikea table is a great table for sewing one, plenty of space

I keep the bags up there for inspiration and motivation

So here is this is the before

and the after

I do hope you enjoyed this loong tour of my creative space

  9. I love the new look!! The new curtains are super cool! I love all the light in your craft room. I am very jelous, first of the room, second of the natural lighting. I am working on transforming a closet in my basement into my craft room. You did a great job! Thanks for sharing!!

  11. Shanny says:

Ikea is fantastic and so is your room. I’m so jealous!

  12. Love your creative space. The best part is obviously the huge window, it must be a dream to work with so much light in your room! Of course I’m a fan of red, so those shelves, etc in red totally had my heart fluttering. I really can’t imagine having that much space! If you saw the corner of the basement I’m in I think you’d feel cluster phobic for me!

I’ve been thinking of blogging about my room since I first got into it about 9 months ago but it is still a bit of a work in progress so it will have to wait until I am done.

Thanks for sharing your space with us Mayya. I don’t know about you, but my room is a total sanctuary and it isn’t always easy to share it with other people.

Did you paint the Expedit? I LOVE your whole look and style – very eye catching with awesome happy pops of colour.

I’m interested in buying an expedit off craigslist – can’t seem to find any of the blonde wood ones for sale, so was wondering if they were easy to paint. Did you? Any advice?

    Thanks bunches!

Maybe mine will look like it when I finally get it. I love those Ikea furniture with clear shape. And those colors.

At the moment, mine looks like this: http://sonnis-neahkaestchen.blogspot.com/2010/06/nahplatz-makeover.html

But we are doing a complete makeover to our house and in the future I will get an own room for me and not only a table in our office room. ;)

I am going to try to do a little corner in my family room for sewing, and I’m thinking that cube thing you have might work to section it off from the rest of the room. Thanks for the idea!!

    Mayya looking really great girl!

Isn’t it a pity a IKEA doesn’t have frequent flyer rewards points … you would be jetting off all over the world in no time, with me as a companion ;-)

One day when we get an IKEA here in Oman our poor husbands won’t know what hit them :-) Until then its the annual pilgrimage to Dubai I guess…

When the kids are back at school after Ramadan lets catch up for a long overdue coffee before my bubba arrives.

  48. Chris says:

What a wonderful space to work in! I love all the red. Thank goodness for Ikea. Now if I could only convince them to build one in Idaho.
