Painted with love

I apologise for the lack of blogging, but you see i have a valid excuse…

i have been busy decorating my daughters’ room.

I have been wanting to decorate Hadeel and Dania’s room for a while now but never got round to it. What i really wanted to do was paint the walls, as they were white and boring.

Now the furniture is light purple and there are 2 beds, a desk and a cupboard from the same collection.

My biggest challange was finding a colour scheme to go with it AND Hadeel’s instructions were “Mama i want red, pink and blue“  and i said YES!

Not realising what i agreed so i asked my friends on facebook for help.

I also studied the colour wheel and the relations to colour and decided on painting the walls pink and green.

pink and green

So this is the room before

Before

and this is how i started

I measured 1 meter from the bottom which was where the green would go and wanted a white border of about 15 cm and above the border would be the pink and i drew the lines with a pencil

pencil border

After that i put masking tape over the border as i didnt want any paint there. Next step was to paint the edges of the walls which included the border

Edges

and then came the fun part painting the walls with a roller brush so the first coat of both colours have been applied

First coat

after it dried we applied the paint to the edges again with a paint brush before applying the 2nd and last coat of paint

2nd coat side view

 2nd coat

Now you might think its finshed but i still needed to add some red and blue

and this is the outcome

 Stenciled wall

I did alternate colours to bring in the red and blue :)

Stenciled flowers

Finish painted walls

I really enjoyed painting this room for my girls because i did it with my husband (thank you honey for your help)

My work is not done yet i still have to hang some pictures, and some curtains which i will blog about soon :) However i am loving the outcome so far!

I hope you enjoyed that and would love to hear your thoughts on my girls room that was painted with love :)

WOW this is looking fantastic!!!! I love the color scheme you chose!!!!! Awesome work! The girls must be thrilled :D . I have an idea in regards to pictures , this is something that I do at home – frame artwork done by my son and hang it on the wall. He loves that :D Perhaps it might work out for you and your girls. Good luck with the finishing touch-ups!
